Visitors:One with a very friendly dog.
Weather:First hour was still raining with hopeful blue sky line approaching. At
11:00 the sky cleared enough for the first local vultures, Ospreys and Bald
Eagle to get up and hunt. Strong NW or WNW winds kept our expectations low.
The first 15 minutes of the last hour has slightly calmer winds and brought
a kettle of 6 Bald Eagles and 2 Red-tails as the highlight of the day.
Raptor Observations:4 Red-tails and 4 Bald Eagles were hard to find as the sky cleared over 3
hours. We were surprised that a kettle of 6 Bald Eagles and 2 Red-tails was
a surprise considering the wind strength. At least 6 Osprey hunted the bay
including at least 2 juveniles. Adults showed their territory display
several times.
Non-raptor Observations:Pretty quiet sky with a single Green Heron being a highlight. Even a single
Great-blue Heron was a pleasure.
Predictions:Nice day with a high of 80f forecast. NW winds 10-15 all day likely to
produce more birds than today.
