Weather:
Fog delayed the start a few hours. Count held from Frisbee Hill. The fog burned off and it became increasingly sunny with a light to moderate northeast lake breeze. Quite warm by the afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
A steady flight once the sun came out. The highlight was a sub-adult MISSISSIPPI KITE that migrated past around 12:30pm EST with the main Broad-winged Hawk flight line over the parking area. A steady flow of Turkey Vultures with 243 for the day. Small groups of Broad-winged Hawks especially for the first few hours of the flight with 231 total. A few dozen Bald Eagles. Small numbers of other expected migrants including a harrier, a sharpie, a kestrel, and 2 Merlins. The flight was relatively low and was mostly towards the parkway side, with a secondary flight line overhead or further inland. Other observers reported a vulture flight line closer to the lake shore that included a Black Vulture, but we never saw it from Frisbee Hill. https://hawkcount.org/day_summary.php?rsite=353&ryear=2024&rmonth=05&rday=15

Predictions:
FRIDAY: Showers early, becoming a steady rain later in the day. Thunder possible. High 71F. Winds ESE at 5-10mph. Chance of rain 80%. The wind direction is good to start the day but cloudy skies and rain moving in may hold back the flight. Expect light migration. Count may be shortened. SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 69F. Winds E at 5-10mph. Expect light to moderate migration. SUNDAY: Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 67F. Winds N at 5-10mph. Expect light to moderate migration.
