Hi Everyone,
Just a quick reminder that our GA4GH Connect session,
Agentic Science: Enabling AI Agents to Reason with Biomedical Data via GA4GH Standards, is happening
TOMORROW,
Wednesday, 8 October, from 16:30-18:00 CEST, led by
Marc Fiume and
Cameron MacPherson, with special invited speakers:
• The role of GA4GH in AI (Sasha Siegel)
• Envisioning the near future of AI in genomics (Mónica Muñoz Torres)
• Supercharging scientific productivity with GA4GH + AI (Marc Fiume)
• Making GPT trustworthy for genetic variant interpretation (Erdal Cosgun)
• Insights from the Narrative Project (Cameron MacPherson)
• AI-powered BRCA analysis in the cloud (David Steinberg)
• Asking biomedical questions in plain language with agentic AI (Boris Guennewig)
• Guardrails for responsible AI in health (Ma'n H. Zawati)
In this session, we will be exploring how GA4GH standards can enable AI agents (e.g. LLM-powered copilots or task-based bots) to reason over distributed omics and health datasets.
We'll look at early prototypes where agents generate, execute, and refine standard-compliant queries across federated networks, and discuss challenges like schema alignment, explainability, and security.
The goal is to catalyse cross-work-stream collaboration on an agentic reference architecture and roadmap for enabling AI to act as an intelligent interface between people and data.
