Chatelaine- Two-week Commentary

Greetings,

Excellent news! - Lady Heilvé Friðriksdóttir has graciously offered to be our Chatelaine officer. This starts the two-week commentary period, which will come to an end on 7/20/2026.

Unto Their Excellencies Már Skál Óttarson and Tabitta Elizi Longtail, Their worthy officers, and all the good gentles of Aquaterra, does Heilvé Friðriksdóttir send warm greetings and humble respect.

It is with both excitement and a servant's heart that I submit my intent to serve as Chatelaine of the Barony of Aquaterra.

For many years this Barony has been my home within these Current Middle Ages. Here I have found friendship, learning, service, laughter, and purpose. I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of capacities, including Deputy Chatelaine and Gold Key, and through those offices I have witnessed both the wonder that first draws people to our Society and the challenges that sometimes keep them from finding their place among us.

In my years within Aquaterra, I have come to believe that few remain because of a website, a flyer, or even a single event. Rather, they remain because someone greeted them warmly, answered their questions, shared their knowledge, loaned them garb, introduced them to friends, and made room for them beside the fire. Such welcome is, in my mind, the true work of a Chatelaine.

Should I be granted the honor of this office, I would endeavor to build upon the excellent work that has come before me while focusing on several goals:

• Offering quarterly public classes, demonstrations, or hands-on workshops to share the Society with the broader community and create new pathways for recruitment.

• Strengthening Gold Key through periodic garb challenges and competitions, with completed items donated to our loaner collection for future newcomers.

• Continuing to improve newcomer retention by connecting people with activities, guilds, households, mentors, and friendships that match their interests.

• Ensuring that every newcomer is welcomed not only at their first event, but also supported in finding a lasting place within our community.

Aquaterra has given much to me over the years. It would be my honor to repay a small portion of that debt through service to this Barony and its people. Therefore, I humbly ask your consideration for the office of Chatelaine and pledge that, should I be chosen, I will serve with diligence, enthusiasm, and care.
