The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working with rhesus macaques and/or capuchin monkeys, which is preferred. Experience working with animals in psychological and behavioral studies (outside of a medical setting and animal shelters) is essential.

The essential duties and responsibilities are the following:

  • Scheduling investigator access to research animals, rhesus macaques, and capuchins and communicating with off-site investigators to coordinate data collection (e.g., installing research software and emailing data).
  •  Coordinating the research schedule for postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate interns, and students.
  • Assisting on-site investigators with research activities, such as recording data and coding video of research sessions.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining research devices, including computerized and mechanical apparatus. 
  • Writing software for computerized research projects, using knowledge of computer programming for experimental psychological research (e.g., Python, R stats, Visual Basic 6.0).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in the assigned research area or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Experience working with rhesus macaques and/or capuchin monkeys is preferred. Experience working with animals in psychological and behavioral studies (outside of a medical setting and animal shelters) is essential.
