PASA is hiring an Administrative Officer

 

The Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA), the largest association of wildlife centers in Africa, is hiring an Administrative Officer.

 

In this full-time position, you will conduct diverse roles including communication, research, and organizing. Your work will help PASA become established as a leader in primate protection and support its programs to defend great apes and monkeys in Africa.

 

To fill this position, you must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication, a demonstrated ability to multitask and to work as part of a team, and passion for animal welfare and/or wildlife conservation.

 

You will be expected to relocate to (or live in) Portland, Oregon, USA, and often work in person with other staff. Regular access to a car is needed for this position.

Job Description: Administrative Officer

 

Main purpose of the job: Conduct diverse roles including communication, research, and organizing, to help PASA become established as a leader in primate protection and support its programs to defend great apes and monkeys in Africa.

 

Full time employment

A minimum 18 month commitment is expected; longer is preferred

Reporting to the Africa Operations Manager

 

Core responsibilities

• Help PASA achieve its goals by supporting all members of the team and completing diverse tasks

• Update and organize online databases, Excel files, and folders on shared drives

• Conduct online research and share findings with other staff

• Conduct PASA’s bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online

• Contribute to planning events, including presentations and tabling at events in Portland

• Contribute to coordinating PASA’s volunteers

• Manage PASA’s general email accounts and reply to emails from the public

• Process donations that are sent by postal mail

• Manage PASA’s Etsy shop, including orders, returns, listing items, and mailing merchandise

• Coordinate travel logistics for complex domestic and international travel, including booking flights, hotel rooms, and rental cars

• Purchase supplies and equipment as needed

• Receive phone calls from the public, provide preliminary information as appropriate, and redirect inquiries as needed

• Request donations of supplies from PASA’s donors, and keep track of supply donations in progress

• Complete other projects as needed

 

Additional responsibilities that may be needed

• Update webpages on PASA’s website

• Edit video files from African sanctuaries to make short videos

• Use Adobe Photoshop to edit photos and add text to them

 

Qualifications

• Demonstrated passion for animal welfare and/or wildlife conservation

• Excellent administrative skills including organization, reliability, and attention to detail

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and complete them within deadlines

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

• Ability to proactively and independently learn new skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and adapt to new needs and opportunities

• Ability to learn new skills independently

 

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with accounting/bookkeeping software

• Experience planning public events

• Experience with volunteer management

• Proficiency with WordPress or other website management software

• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop

• Ability to write in French

• Familiarity with video editing software
