Position: Clinical Veterinarian                                                                                                      EEO# RD 1-13

 

Responsibilities:

This position will provide therapeutic, surgical, and diagnostic support for several NHP breeder programs:

  

·         Responsibilities include providing therapeutic, surgical, and diagnostic support for several non-human primate breeder programs;

·         Evaluating non-human primates and monitoring animal health on various research protocols, such as safety, pharmacokinetic, and efficacy, for the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industry;

·         Providing support and instruction to students, residents, visiting veterinarians, and clinical veterinary technicians in the principles and application of non-human primate medicine.

 

Qualifications:
DVM/VMD from an AVMA- accredited school of veterinary medicine.  Experience with non-human primates is preferred.  A highly motivated, self-starter type of individual is sought.  Interpersonal/communication skills are essential.

The New Iberia Research Center is a $20 million biomedical research center which provides resources for the conduct of basic and applied research requiring the use of non-human primates aimed at the solution of human health and societal problems.  In addition, the Center serves as a resource to the biomedical community enabling investigators from other institutions to conduct all or part of their research.  The NIRC is a Center of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  Within the NIRC, the Director, Associate Director-NIRC CRO Research Director, Chair of Veterinary Medicine, and Quality Assurance Auditor comprise the Executive Team.

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
