Texas Biomed is searching for the Associate Director, Veterinary Resources/Attending Veterinarian to support the Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC). In this role, you are responsible for the ongoing treatment and welfare for a variety of animal species and leading the veterinarian staff to ensure optimum animal care and research model support.
The Role:
As Attending Veterinarian, has oversight of the animal resources and serves on the IACUC
Ensures veterinary care and regulatory compliance
Leads veterinarian personnel to maintain optimum efficiency in process and procedures
Fosters a spirit of teamwork among veterinarians that allows open dialogue and cohesiveness and creates a workplace culture that is aligned with the core values, mission and vision of the institute
Assists the SNPRC Director and the Associate Director of Research in preparing base grant renewal applications and progress reports
Our Ideal Candidate:
A Doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M., V.M.D.)
A US veterinary license and accreditation by the USDA (APHIS) is required
Board certification in Laboratory Animal Medicine preferred
10+ years of experience in laboratory animal resource management and administration; preferably with nonhuman primates
National reputation for excellence among veterinary science peers such as holding office in professional societies; serving on NIH study sections or National Research Council committees or the AALAC International Council
