We are seeking an Environmental Enrichment Technician I to join our dynamic team! This position works at our Alice, TX location in the operation as part of the team specializing in non-human primates. This position will assist the coordinator in developing and coordinating a comprehensive primate enrichment program. The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with animals, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment.  We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail, takes initiative, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude.

Primary ways the Environmental Enrichment Technician will contribute to the Envigo team:

• Assist with researching and formulating novel animal enrichment foods and ideas for Behavior and Enrichment Group.
• Assist with the creation and construction of enrichment devices based on approved requests within the Behavior and Enrichment Group.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies and order more food items from vendors as needed. Work with Manger and Department Leads for changes and improvements.
• Responsible for unloading the food products and storing them in appropriate areas (freezers, refrigerators, shelves).
• Prepares animal enrichment foods as instructed by Manager and Veterinarian, either handing the items off to designated staff member or distributing the food items themselves.
• Ensures quality control of all food items and goods and prepares food using proper recipes to provide consistency.
• Responsible for maintaining proper sanitation in food preparation and keeping equipment, walk-ins, freezers and storerooms cleaned.
• Assists with stocking, cleaning and maintaining all kitchen equipment including break-down, maintenance and restoration of equipment.
• Follows departmental safety procedures.

We are looking for the following from the Environmental Enrichment Technician:

• Ability to read, record, and communicate information.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand on concrete floor and walk in uneven terrain.
• Ability to work in dust mask, hairnet, gloves, goggles, safety glasses and face shield.

This position requires that the Environmental Enrichment Technician be able to:

• Must be able to work in inclement weather.
• Stand/walk on concrete for at least 2 hours at a time.
• Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat and lift.
• TB test required
• Must have valid driver's license
• Must be fitted for respirator use
