About Project Primate, Inc:

Project Primate, Inc. (PPI) works to raise awareness about the rapid decline of primate populations to promote, inspire, and support international conservation efforts.

PPI has been a major supporter of the Chimpanzee Conservation Center (CCC), based in the Upper Niger National Park in the Republic of Guinea, since 1999 as well as Akatia, a chimpanzee conservation and rehabilitation project in the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, since 2017. The primary activities of these partners include: chimpanzee rescue; rehabilitation and release; increasing public awareness; and community development.

PPI supports the CCC via the local NGO, Projet Primates Guinee (PPGui), and Akatia through Akatia Activities, a local Ivorian NGO. As a U.S. fiscal sponsor, PPI provides access to fundraising; logistic and financial support; social media communication with an international audience; recruitment of experts and volunteers; U.S. donors relations; and research partnership opportunities.

Intern Position:

PPI is looking to fill an Intern position with an individual who is committed to chimpanzee conservation and welfare. This part-time position requires an average commitment of approximately 20 hours per week. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administrative duties related but not limited to legal compliance, company policies and/or grant contracts.

  • Elevate PPI’s visibility by arranging speaking events for PPI President, merchandise/ ticket sales, etc.

  • Strategizing and coordination of new funding opportunities (sponsor-a-chimp program, fundraising events, etc.)

  • Proofreading of funding proposals (in English)

  • Regular communication with the PPI President.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Legal/business background or degree in a related field

  • Prior experience working with U.S. based NGOs

  • Commitment to wildlife conservation

  • Ability to take initiative

  • Strong attention to detail

Stipend, duration and location:

This internship is expected to last 3 months but the position is anticipated to evolve towards a Director position.

The stipend proposed is 500$ per month and expenses reimbursed upon receipts when associated with tasks.

The position is remote within continental USA, preferably East Coast for time zone practicability.
