Hello again, Euler users,

It's midway through the week and we've been making good progress, but we are getting a lot of questions and I would like to take this opportunity to clarify what is and is not ready to use and to explain what the remainder of the migration will look like.
  • Right now, all but two* compute nodes are updated and have been merged back into their usual partitions. If your software does not require any environment modules to work, you can start using Euler as usual.
  • The login nodes require the most work and the first one will be changed over tomorrow. The other will be delayed until Monday of next week in order to mitigate any last-minute issues over the weekend.
  • Once node updates are completed, we will begin the process of rebuilding environment modules for the new platform. Not all versions of each module will be rebuilt; typically, only the latest version will be ported to the new platform. Modules which have not yet been updated will return a warning message when loaded. Please check your logs carefully before opening a new support ticket.

We expect everything to be completed by next week Wednesday, August 27th, but delays are always possible. I will send out one last email when everything is nearing completion.

Regards,
Colin Vanden Heuvel

* -- The two remaining nodes have firmware issues that require manual intervention during an upgrade; that's fully expected and we'll be able to take care of them in the coming days.
