We recently heard back from the network hardware vendor and the final equipment needed for storage expansion is delayed far beyond what we were originally quoted, so we will once again need to make adjustments. Let me first say that this is not the way we wanted
things to happen, but there's little we can do about supply delays other than try to stay flexible.
So, we will perform phases 4 and 3 of the storage upgrade in reverse order. That will make phase 3 take longer during the fall semester and might affect performance for coursework, but it simply can't be started until all of the hardware arrives. Phase 4 involves
some updates for the long term which are impractical (but not impossible) to perform before all of the hardware is online, but are far more difficult to do while classes are in session.
In order to perform the aforementioned changes, Euler will need to be completely offline (NO jobs, NO ssh, NO globus) for a few days during the last week of the month. The current plan is for Euler to be
OFFLINE FOR MAINTENANCE
STARTING ON MONDAY, AUGUST 28th and ending before the end of the day on August 30th. In the event
that maintenance is completed before the end of the window, Euler will be returned to service at the earliest possible opportunity.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
Best,
