Job Summary

Wiscovery Farm in Fitchburg, WI is seeking a Farm Manager to oversee day-to-day farmwork and assist in expanding our offerings as the first Wisconsin-based, multisite solar grazing business. Beyond helping our farm deliver on our rapidly expanding sheep grazing contracts, the Farm Manager will contribute to key farm projects, including sheep care, lambing support, basic property/equipment maintenance, compost preparation, haymaking and more.

We are rapidly expanding and we need the right person to find solutions on the fly to enhance farm operations. As we expand, there will be incredible opportunities to learn how to incorporate technology into agricultural practices. Job Requirements 

The Farm Manager must possess an energetic, self-starter mindset. They must have confidence in their ability to innovate and solve problems and an eagerness to learn new skills. They also must be extremely reliable, safety conscious and collaborative. 

 

Applicants MUST have the following:

  • Valid driver’s license and insured
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Willingness to obtain a pesticide applicator license (training and license fees are covered)

 

Applicants MUST possess the following skills:

  • Ability to operate farm machinery safely 
  • Ability to conduct basic equipment maintenance
  • Experience with haymaking 
  • Ability to lift 100lbs
  • Ability to work in all seasons & elements; including extreme hot and cold temperatures

 

Other skills suited for qualified applicants, though not required:

  • Grazing management
  • Sheep husbandry and lambing experience
  • Fence construction and repair experience
  • Basic welding, carpentry and construction experience
  • Forestry experience; including firewood processing and sawmill and chainsaw operation
  • Advanced machinery maintenance experience
  • Pesticide handling and application experience 

 

Salary & Benefits 

  • Starting salary is $50,000 - $70,000 with a semi-annual review process and opportunity for raises
  • 40 hours weekly, with a flexible schedule that supports key farm projects
  • Paid holidays and two-week vacation
