Subject: [macro-energy-systems] Postdoc position at UC Santa Barbara

Hello energy community!

Come work with me and our amazing team of postdocs and grad students at UC Santa Barbara. We have an open postdoc position to work on bridging power flow and power systems planning and operations models, micro-siting of renewables and storage, and planning under climate change uncertainty.

For more information about our labs, visit the Environmental Markets Lab  and the Clean Energy Transformation Lab. Below is the official description. First review starts this Monday, March 30th 2026.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to lead research in low-carbon transitions in electricity systems in India and other regions. Efforts will include developing operations and planning models of electricity systems, power flow and transmission analysis, load forecasting, and climate impacts analysis. The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to lead or contribute to peer-reviewed publications and open-source modeling software, present research findings to a diverse group of stakeholders, conduct training of stakeholders, and develop policy briefs and reports for funders and agencies. The postdoctoral scholar will work closely with the PI, Ranjit Deshmukh, as well as with emLab and CETlab graduate students, postdocs, and lab collaborators.

View the full job description and apply here. Applications are due by March 30th for primary consideration.

A reasonable estimate for this position at 100% time is $69,073 to $85,000.

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
