Position description 
We are looking for assistants (maximum 2) to collaborate in all aspects related to conducting research in the field; this includes participating in logistics and data collection/entry/management/analysis.
The field site is located about 30 km from the city of Posadas, Misiones, Argentina. Also, it is located 300 km from one of the wonders of the world, the Iguazu Falls.
The area includes rainforests, riparian forests, grasslands and wetlands. Attendees are expected to work, on average, 10 hours in the field each day. Field work consists of full-day observations (from sunrise to sunset) of groups of black and golden howler monkeys (Alouatta caraya) to collect demographic data (group composition, dispersal, births, mortality, among others). Generally many kilometers are traveled on foot inside the jungle. The climate of the area is known for its warm weather; with many mosquitoes, flies, wasps. That is why perseverance, maturity, dedication and good humor are important.

Qualification
We seek applicants whose qualifications include experience in primatology, animal behavior, ecology, biology, or biological anthropology, and who have a demonstrated motivation and ability for independent work. Fluency in Spanish is helpful, although not necessary. Students of all backgrounds and identities are welcome. Collecting data in the field tends to be physically and mentally demanding due to long days working in very hot and humid conditions. Also with a high presence of insects, snakes and other animals.  

Accommodation
Accommodation will be in a few different environments. The project has access to a house in Candelaria, Misiones a few kilometers from the forest. In the countryside, the sleeping places will be rustic, although we have electricity and bathrooms. . It also has a gas kitchen and community use area.

Support provided:
This is a volunteer job. Attendees will have their food and accommodation costs covered. Research equipment necessary for field work (e.g. binoculars, compass) will also be provided. Applicants are expected to cover: their own visa costs (if applicable), mandatory medical and accident/death insurance required by the ranch owners, and personal field equipment. 

Term of Appointment:
  We are looking for applicants who can start working in the month of January and mid-February. It is a short period of work, so attendees must be willing to commit to that short period.
