**EDUCATION VOLUNTEER AT THE CHIMPANZEE CONSERVATION CENTER**
**Position Title**
Experienced Long-Term Volunteer (10 months - September 2024 to July 2025) within the conservation education program at the Chimpanzee Conservation Center in the northern area of the Haut Niger National Park, Guinea.
**Position Description**
The Chimpanzee Conservation Center (CCC) has been working in Guinea for over 20 years to protect the Haut Niger National Park (PNHN) and its populations of wild chimpanzees. Unfortunately, anthropogenic pressures have continued to increase in recent years, threatening the survival of the park's ecosystems and its biodiversity.
To minimize the negative impacts of human expansion, we must continue to implement strong and effective measures with the local communities in the park (education, community projects, and law enforcement).
The CCC has successfully developed a conservation education program with several villages in the south and north of the park. Thanks to the efforts of our education team, we have also begun to implement some community development projects to help populations live more sustainably.
The CCC is now seeking two highly motivated volunteers to help us expand the education and community development programs in the park's villages. The volunteer will be responsible for:
- Following the education program in collaboration with the Conservation Programs Manager (CPM)
- Working with and assisting the local education team in drafting reports, budgets, and general work organization around the park
- Collaborating with the team to support the development of new community projects and to build relationships with villages around the park
- Helping the local education team acquire solid modern education techniques adapted to the local context
- Being responsible, along with the local team, for the correct use and maintenance of education materials (computer, projector, vehicles, etc.)
**Qualifications/Experience**
The volunteer must be a very sociable person, able to work within a multidisciplinary team, and eager to learn and engage with the local culture.
Since most of the work will be with children, it is crucial that the volunteer loves children and knows how to work, bond, and communicate with them.
They must be able to manage the project's accounts and report to the CPM.
Autonomy and the ability to make quick decisions are essential.
The selected person will need to live close to the local communities and respect their culture.
Experience in environmental education is highly desired.
Spoken and written French is mandatory.Previous experience in Africa, preferably in West Africa, is desired.
**Amenities Offered**
The CCC does not require any contribution and provides accommodation in Faranah (Southern education base) and Sandiana (Northern education base). The volunteer is responsible for their food expenses (approximately 150 euros per month), associated travel expenses (vaccinations, insurance, visa, antimalarial prophylaxis), as well as transportation from Conakry to Faranah (250 euros) and hotel costs in Conakry (25 euros per night).
