About Project Primates, Inc:
Project Primates, Inc. (PPI) aims to raise awareness about the rapid decline of primate populations and to promote, inspire, and support international conservation efforts. PPI has been a major supporter of the Chimpanzee Conservation Center (CCC), based in the Upper Niger National Park in the Republic of Guinea since 1999, and the fiscal sponsor of Akatia, a chimpanzee conservation and rehabilitation project in the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire since 2017.
PPI supports the CCC via the local NGO, Projet Primates Guinee (PPGui), and Akatia, via its local Ivorian NGO, in:
fundraising, sourcing and offering logistical and financial support;
international communication on social media;
recruitment of experts and volunteers and
donor relations and research partnerships.
One PPI representative sits on the PPGui board.
Board Member Position:
PPI is looking to fill a seat on the PPI Board of Directors to represent PPI on the PPGui Board of Directors. This seat will be filled by an individual committed to chimpanzee conservation and welfare. This is a volunteer position with an average commitment of approximately 10 hours per month, mostly spent on the PPGui board activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Represent PPI’s vision and aims on the PPGui board
Report to PPI on PPGui-CCC activities
Contribute to the development of an active Board of Directors
Preferred Qualifications:
Bi-lingual English and French
Prior experience working with U.S. based NGOs and/or local NGOs in Africa
Familiarity with wildlife conservation projects in Africa
Commitment to primate conservation issues
Networking skills
Ability to take initiative
Effective oral and written communicator
West African expatriates (especially from Guinea) a plus.
