Why is the HEAD in a detached state on Fuchsia checkout?

Hi,

After running the bootstrap script given at

https://fuchsia.dev/fuchsia-src/get-started/get_fuchsia_source#download-the-fuchsia-source-code to download Fuchsia source-code, I noticed that the HEAD was in a detached state, pointing to the same commit as the master branch.

Why is this the case? Are there any advantages of operating like this?
