That's interesting, thanks for writing it up. It's certainly always more pleasant to hack when you can build quickly!

I don't know if anyone would use it internally or not, but I wonder if we could make a smaller-than- https://cs.opensource.google/fuchsia/fuchsia/+/master:products/bringup.gni that would be close to what zircon_standalone builds. Did you try that and decide it wasn't going to be workable?

Hi Scott,

I did consider creating another product that is smaller, by removing everything from bringup config, leaving only empty lists, and the result was around 6 times bigger than the kernel. I wasn't familiar with gn build system and gave up at that point and found this approach to be faster to implement.

Also, in this setup, all the configuration is upfront and it comes with a hello world function for zircon, so newcomers might find it less overwhelming.
