Hi all,
Happy New Year!
We are launching a new project within the
Alliance’s Data Repositories Expert Group (DREG) to produce guidance on trustworthy data repository characteristics for a Canadian context while incorporating international insights. This guidance will inform researchers selecting data repositories in fulfillment of the data deposit requirement of the
Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy, which is anticipated to take effect in late 2026. The work will include a landscape review and stakeholder consultation to identify characteristics that will be summarized in a guidance document. Ancillary deliverables, such as promotional items and complementary decision-making resources, are also intended.
If you have expertise on desired characteristics for data repositories, and/or skills for conducting landscape reviews and stakeholder consultations, we’d be keen to have you on board. We will evaluate responses for expertise and diversity (geography, discipline, organizational types, career stage), and let respondents know the outcome by early February. It is anticipated that the activity will take approximately one year to complete. The information that you provide will not be retained beyond the duration of the project.
Deadline: January 23, 2026
