I am writing to propose a suggestion for the IEEE 754-2029 revision. It would be beneficial if the 2029 revision could define the behavior for all situations when converting a float to an integer. Currently, there are some undefined situations, such as:
  • NaN (Not a Number)
  • Values less than Integer.MinValue
  • Values greater than Integer.MaxValue

Addressing these scenarios would help ensure greater consistency and clarity. Problem discussed in dotnet:

Thank you for considering this suggestion.

Best regards, Pavel Cibulka

Hi Pavel,

the best is to suggest this to the IEEE 754 revision mailing list
(stds...@ieee.org).

You might also participate to the meetings by visioconference which
are organized every two weeks on Monday (there was one yesterday).

Best regards,
Paul Zimmermann
