Next Thursday, November 2nd, is the monthly Community Meeting.

Joseph D. Darcy of Oracle will be giving a talk on Java numerics.

The realm of IEEE 754 floating-point support within Java Standard Edition boasts a robust and storied 25-year journey. Commencing with the early adoption of the Intel x87 floating-point co-processor, Java's trajectory has evolved significantly, embracing an array of numeric formats, and looking forward toward those integral to contemporary machine learning. Those who haven't explored Java's numeric capabilities in recent years may find themselves pleasantly surprised by the evolving landscape and the pertinent details that have undergone transformation.
