I'm in a session right now, where someone mentioned that they were using XSLT for their landing pages.

I remember that our reason for not recommending XSLT was that browsers were removing support for it.

It's probably worth specifically mentioning this.

I found a mention on a google chrome mailing list, "Intent to Deprecate and Remove: XSLT":

Hi all,
I'm still wondering if we should include this in the DOI section, even though I know one of the reviewers commented about it:
"A recent collaboration between the software archive GitHub, the Zenodo repository system at CERN,
FigShare, and Mozilla Science Lab, now makes it possible to cite software, giving DOIs to GitHubcommitted
code (GitHub Guides (2014))."

It seems out of scope to me to discuss software citation, and also because then we'd also want to discuss the software index recommendations, RRIDs, etc. RRIDs especially given that that is a major Force11 activity. But really I think better to leave it out- we are talking here about data citation, and not about how the data is produced, manipulated, etc.

Cheers,
Melissa

I agree. Here's a possible alternative to the respond to the reviewer note:

Our effort has been focused on data citation. Although we believe that many of the techniques that we describe for human & machine usability could be used for software citation, we leave specific recommendations to other efforts. (footnote to http://www.software.ac.uk/ )

I fully agree with removing the sentence, and you can further note that
it has been possible to give DOIs to software using DataCIte for a very
long time (since ResourceType=Software. The Zenodo/GitHub integration
just made it much easier.

Cheers,
Lars

I also agree with Joe’s suggestion.

My only comment on the current version is that Table 2 has suddenly dropped the entry for N2T ARK. There’s a reference to the n2t resolver in Table 1, and then it disappears in Table 2. Can this please be replaced?

Thanks,

Joan

Melissa, I footnoted your paper on RRIDs.  In any event I would like to leave the GitHub / DOI thing in, if only as a footnote.

Okay I consider myself overruled. We'll take Joe's suggestion.

Its not a big deal, just feels like if we are going to talk about it we'd want to do it justice.
