2015-2016 Officer Elections

Hello Everybody,

It is time to hold elections for the 2015-2016 SPDG officers. I encourage you to nominate yourselves and get involved in the SPDG. It is a great opportunity to develop and use your leadership skills and to network with other food safety students and professionals. Please, respond directly to me (byrond...@gmail.com) with your name and desired position by FRIDAY, JUNE 5.  We really appreciate your interest and please, spread the word!

There are four positions open: Vice-Chair (This is a 2-year commitment position as the Vice-Chair becomes the Chair the following year), Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Chair.

Here are some of the thing that officers do, independent of their specific positions:  Hold conferences calls (one every two month, on average); propose ideas for the following year's annual meeting and submit the corresponding proposals; reach out to fellow students to get them involved; organize the student activities for the annual meeting (t-shirts, mixer, bring in speakers for the student luncheon). Overall, it is not very time-consuming but it does require you to be committed and take the necessary time to do your job.
