Dear FINOS Community,
I hope this note finds you well.
So much is happening across FINOS, and so, after yesterday's very consequential Governing Board meeting, I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting updates with the broader community.
As DeepSeek (while not "technically" open source) showed the world once again how openness is the most consequential and disruptive form of innovation out there, I hope you'll consider doubling down on your engagement in our community. Only if we act together can we deliver to the promise our community represents for a new generation of financial services.
Major FINOS Updates Last year we experienced unprecedented growth in adoption of our projects and breadth and depth of our membership. We’re excited to share key milestones as FINOS surpasses 100 members and releases two new reports:
2024 Year in Review
Our Chair, Madeleine Dassule, shares how FINOS expanded its global member base by 20%, welcoming organizations like NVIDIA, BlackRock, Protect AI, and Moody’s. This report highlights key milestones, including the release of the AI Governance Framework and the widespread adoption of FDC3 and CDM standards.
FINOS Outlook for 2025
In October we hosted a very consequential strategy session with our Governing Board, which charted an ambitious vision for our next 5 years. In this report, I share FINOS’ plans to address major trends shaping financial services, including advancements in AI governance and open source AI, secure cloud adoption, and climate-aligned investing. This report outlines our strategic priorities for global collaboration, regulatory innovation, and community training programs.
Press Release: Surpassing 100 Members
FINOS has officially surpassed 100 members, highlighting the growing importance of open source in finance. Recent additions include global leaders such as Ant Group, Thoughtworks, Artian AI, G-Research, Here™ (formerly OpenFin), JUXT, Kosli, and Temporal.
Let's make Open Source in Finance Forum (OSFF) 2025 the most compelling ever (yet)
The Call for Papers (CFP) is now open for the Open Source in Finance Forum (OSFF) in London on June 24th! Save the date, and stay tuned for registration opening soon!
This event will be an incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate the remarkable progress this community is making. If you’re interested in speaking, please submit your proposal via our Call for Papers (CFP). Last year we brought together almost 1500 people across London and NYC, so make sure not to miss the opportunity to speak, sponsor or definitely attend!
Welcome New Governing Board Members & Executive Advisors I’m thrilled to announce three new additions to our Governing Board following the Q4 2024 election:
Pooi Ling Cheong (Open Source Program Lead, Lloyds Banking Group)
Brian Fox (Co-Founder & CTO, Sonatype)
James McLeod (Open Source Program Lead, NatWest)
Please join me in congratulating Pooi, Brian, and James on their appointments for a two years term. I have every confidence they will bring invaluable expertise to their roles, making a meaningful impact on their respective organizations, the Gold Member class, and the broader FINOS community.
I am also delighted to announce Madeleine Dassule as our first FINOS Executive Advisor to the Governing Board. Many of you know Madeleine well and can attest to the incredible impact of her leadership—whether through her contributions to FDC3, her advocacy for senior women in leadership, or her dedicated service as Vice Chair and now Chair of the FINOS Board. As our first Executive Advisor, she will continue shaping the future of FINOS and our community. Madeleine will serve in this role through December 31, 2026.
Upwards and openwards!
