Dear FINOS Community,
I am excited to announce that we have just submitted the contribution of FIN-OCR - https://github.com/discoverfinancial/fin-ocr/. You can find all the details of the contribution at https://github.com/finos/community/issues/348.
Much of the banking industry relies upon in-house or vendor solutions to handle scanned check images which can be inaccurate or costly. The initial objective of this project was to provide an open source solution which can meet the highly accurate standards which banking applications require while reducing potential overhead or vendor reliance. This tool leverages machine learning to reduce errors in text recognition which can come from many sources.
Moving forward, other applications we envision for this tool could be scanning credit cards, driver’s licenses or other well defined documents.
As the TOC gears up to review the contribution we would love to see your feedback and questions on the issue to express your interest in adopting or even better contributing to the project. Even a thumbs up would be very much appreciated.
Also please don't hesitate to reach out to me on Slack @Michael Natoli if you have any questions.
Thanks in advance for your consideration!
