At InnerSource Commons (ISC) we are seeing a growing number of banks and financial services firms adopt InnerSource to increase collaboration within software teams, reduce duplication, deliver better software and to enable engineers to gain the skills needed that will make them effective participants in open source projects.
On the back of this movement, we announced at the FINOS Open Source Strategy Forum the proposal of a new FINOS InnerSource Special Interest Group to identify and promote best practices around InnerSource in the financial services industry.
Following on from our announcement at OSSF, the FINOS Open Source Readiness initiative and InnerSource Commons started a series of collaborations to share InnerSource practices and to engage FINOS community participants interested in a FINOS InnerSource SIG before this is presented to the FINOS board for review (and hopefully approval) in January 2021.
The InnerSource Commons team were delighted with the first InnerSource session and would like to thank attendees from the FINOS community and panelists from Deutsche Bank, Capital One, RBC and Lloyds Banking Group. Please also lookout for our next FINOS session which we're organising for mid January.
As we continue to build the case for the FINOS InnerSource SIG we need your input so please suggest potential collaboration topics or just register your interest by leaving a comment on the FINOS InnerSource Special Interest Group Proposal in GitHub.
Thank you,
Danese Cooper
President and Founder of InnerSource Commons
