Hello FINOS Community,
I'm thrilled to share the results of our recent Technical Oversight Committee (TOC) election. As you know, the TOC is a critical body that guides the technical vision, governance, and health of all our projects.
This year, we had two seats to fill—one appointed by the Governing Board (GB) and one appointed by the TOC itself.
Before getting to the new appointments, I want to extend a massive thank you to Damian Reeves (Distinguished Engineer, Capital One). Damian, who held the GB-appointed seat, has been an incredible asset to the TOC. Damien has chosen to double-down on his work as a project maintainer—a move we can all appreciate. Damian, your leadership and thoughtful insights will be missed on the committee, and we're deeply grateful for your contributions.
Governing Board-Appointed Seat: Peter Smulovics (Distinguished Engineer, Morgan Stanley). Peter previously held the TOC-appointed seat and has been a key leader in our community for years. He has served as a TOC vice-chair, co-leads the Open Source Readiness and Emerging Technologies SIGs, and is an active participant in the FDC3 and Talent SIGs. We're lucky to have his continued leadership and institutional knowledge.
TOC-Appointed Seat: Gábor Lipták (Distinguished Engineer, Capital One). Gábor is already a FINOS project maintainer and brings a wealth of hands-on experience in software architecture and engineering. He's a passionate advocate for innersource and open source reuse, process automation, and AI augmentation. His strategic vision and technical experience will be a fantastic addition to the committee.
Both Peter and Gábor will begin their terms immediately and will hold their seats until November 2028.
The strength of our community comes from dedicated leaders like these who step up to do the complex governance work. Please join me in congratulating Peter and Gábor on their new roles, and once again, thanking Damian for his fantastic contributions.
All the best,
Eddie Knight, TOC Chair
