FINOS Community,
As Morgan Stanley progresses with its open-source initiatives and FINOS participation, we’d like to present to this group a project that we’ve been working on open-sourcing for some time. It’s called Morphir and part of it has already been open-sourced in pre-release to our GitHub repository. With our recent participation with the Alloy pilot, we’ve come to recognize synergies across the two projects. Several of us from Morgan Stanley, along with Rob and Aitana, met last week with Pierre at Goldman Sachs, who leads the Alloy project there. The collective conclusion was that they share a common core; with Alloy concentrating more on data and data models and Morphir focusing on logic and application models. The feeling was that the combination could be compelling and was worth further investigation.
We wanted to reach out to the FINOS community to:
Finally, thank you to our friends at Goldman for getting the ball rolling with its decision to open source Alloy. I think we're starting to see some interesting areas of collaboration
develop as a result.
Thanks,

Stephen, thanks for taking the initiative and reaching out to the community. Chuan Li, copied, is interested in taking a look at Morphir for JP Morgan.
Kind Regards,

Subject: [FINOS Community] Potential FINOS project query
· See if there were other individuals and organizations who would be interested in taking a further look at Morphir and helping us evaluate if this could be a good potential contribution into FINOS.
· Ask if anyone, especially those involved in the pilot, would like to be involved in looking at how the Morphir and Alloy might work together.
· Ask if there are other similar efforts or projects going on amongst the FINOS community that might be worth considering.
Finally, thank you to our friends at Goldman for getting the ball rolling with its decision to open source Alloy. I think we're starting to see some interesting
areas of collaboration develop as a result.
Thanks,
Stephen Goldbaum, Executive Director
