TLDR; Please offer your support for our project proposal https://github.com/finos/community/issues/425 !

Hi All,

As some of you may already be aware, Mike Long, Myself, Toby Weston and a number of others have been working on a labs project as part of the DevOps Automation SIG on an open standards project for common SDLC controls with the view to reducing the toil, drift and fragmentation across our institutions.

This working group formed over a year ago and has made steady progress in defining a control set and their associated risks. Meeting regularly and having had several well attended workshops in NY, London and Toronto it has sparked a range of discussions and presentations around the future of SDLC itself (particularly with AI…); highlighting just how divergent the industry is today.

This divergence, highlighted by the community, has confirmed our thesis for the project and kept us moving forward!

We are now at the point where the first draft of controls are nearly ready and we have organisations ready to start adopting some of these from the “Catalog”; but first we must promote the project out of labs and into a formal FINOS project. We have now proposed this initiative to become an official open standards project within FINOS, the proposal is linked below.

The ask: if this work matters to you or your organisation or are generally supportive, please add a short comment on the issue or even a simple thumbs up to show your support, ideally along with your name and organisation if you can.

Thank you to those who have already contributed, either by joining us, engaging in our debates over language or attending the workshop/side discussions over the past year.

Finally: If you are interested in contributing, please feel free to join us, we meet every two weeks and can be found on calendar.finos.org

Thanks,

Aaron
