Dear FDX PMC (and OSR PMC FYI),

happy new year and I look forward to making 2019 an even greater year for our Community.

I wanted to follow up on actions that were discussed on 12/18 (see minutes) which I think have not been actioned upon yet. Specifically:

1. Jamie: you had an action to trigger the move of DX to OSR, as also agreed with the OSR PMC (cc'd). Are we ready to do this? Our team can help with that so you can just email he...@finos.org if you'd like to trigger this.

2. All - as I mentioned, I want to suggest that the upcoming initiative on cloud compliance gets added to the FDX - partly also the reason why we are moving DX to OSR, so that everything open source specific has a clear home, while FDX can subsume a more cloud / delivery focused scope. So my proposal, also in order to keep the impact of the change small, is to rename FDX (Financial Developer Experience) into ... FDX (Financial Delivery aXeleration), with leaving the charter as is (it's already focused on ODP + Developer + Cloud topics). The obvious advantage is not having to change any of the acronyms that are across all of our systems and collateral, while having a program name which would much more easily be able to home a cloud compliance initiative. Can you please let me know if this something you are agreeable with? Happy to start a formal vote.
NOTE: I would need consensus on this by Thursday COB, as I am having a meeting with the Member proposing the Cloud Compliance work on Friday and I'd like to reference this plan

3. All: Finally action from the last meeting, was for each lead of WGs or Project chairs to come up with a initial focus and roadmap for 2018. I would like to discuss that at the next PMC meeting next week, ahead of the Board meeting of the week after (1/23). I've asked Mao to do that for the ODP WG (in fact our ODP Board is now clean and concise, only 4 epics) to add review of your roadmaps to the next meeting agenda, so please make sure you prep for this.

Thanks in advance for your attention, we really need your contribution and help to start accelerating progress here.

Gab and Jamie,

It's unclear to me  whether or not, if we are deactivating the Cloud Native WG under the FDX Program or if it will continue to live on under FDX under OSR?  As we discussed on 12/18 (see minutes), the only item on the road map currently for the Cloud Native WG is development of the  CN architecture design white paper in early 2019. This is to be used as a tool for education/awareness and recruitment of participants in the Cloud Native Working Group.

If we are deactivating the Cloud Native WG,  I would happily move over to work as a participant in the Cloud Compliance WG if it comes to fruition.

If we are not deactivating the Cloud Native WG, what format do you want each lead of WGs or Project chairs to come up with a initial focus and roadmap for 2019 - powerpoint, google doc, or just add it to our existing individual wiki page?

Diane,

very important question, so I am forking the thread and removing the OSR PMC, so we don't clutter the original thread / question.

See my answers below:

I honestly have no strong opinions at this point on whether you want to deactivate or not the Cloud native WG. It seems to me that it would depend on how much activity we expect there and most importantly, if there's interest in the Community once we socialize the focus and roadmap.

After the Board meeting, if the proposer follows my recommendation, the Cloud Compliance WG would be brought for approval to this PMC anyway, so you guys will have a chance to evaluate and join.

Sounds like a great idea - once we have that we can discuss how we socialize the group on the member list and further.

Thanks!

Gab and everyone else,

I'd rather not deactivate the Cloud Native WG. I was thinking that you may have decided to do so, and was just asking for clarification and a way forward. Let's stick with the current plan and I'll develop the WP, publish it with your marketing teams help and see if that spurs a conversation and participation.
