CTAPHID_MSG for U2F command

The format for sending U2F command through USB is as following
Request
CMD CTAPHID_MSG
BCNT 1..(n + 1)
DATA U2F command byte
DATA + 1 n bytes of data
For U2F authenticate command, how to pass control byte. Will it be part of DATA + 1 n bytes of data?
This is not clearly specified in FIDO U2F Raw Message Formats or FIDO U2F HID Protocol Specification.
