Dear Folks,

We developed FIDO 1.x device side stack (Client,ASM and Authenticator) for
one of our embedded platforms.

I have some questions regarding FIDO 2.0 vs FIDO 1.0.

1) In FIDO 1.x spec there were 3 separate entities: Client, ASM, Authenticator.
But in 2.0 I don't see any such components, does that mean that FIDO 2.0 is
meant only for Browsers/Web apps?

2) Is there any draft spec related to FIDO 2.0 which explains native platform
requirements? (I saw CTAP spec has "FIDOPlatformApiReqs", but links are broken)

3) Is it even going to be called FIDO 2.0 anymore? Or it will be just WebAuthnr?
Will there be certification process similar like FIDO 1.x?

It would be of great help if someone could help us.

- BR,
  Roy

Hi Roy,

For 2.0, FIDO will certify server, browser, platform and authenticator.  The Working Draft specs are only available to members of the FIDO 2.0 working group.  Once they reach Implementation Draft status, they will be published here

I hope that helps!

Best,

Katie

Hi Katie,

Thank you for the explanation, is it possible to share tentative schedule for the implementation draft (is it planned to be released in 2017 at-least?)?
