Greetings from the QuakeML development team at the Swiss Seismological Service (SED)! After the successful release of QuakeML version 1.2 and its subsequent adoption as an FDSN standard, there were several attempts to extend QuakeML with the intention to make thematic coverage deeper and wider, known as QuakeML 2.0.
Now, SED is considering to restart the QuakeML 2.0 development. The editorial team at SED will be the group you already know: John Clinton, Fabian Euchner, Philipp Kästli, Stefan Wiemer, plus Danijel Schorlemmer, a seasoned QuakeML veteran.
To assess the needs of the community, we designed a user survey to solicit your feedback on QuakeML 1.2, the extensions around it and the possible move to QuakeML 2.0.
The online survey is here: https://evaluation-app1.let.ethz.ch/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=9431m55M
This is an anonymous survey that we will keep open from 15 July until 30 September 2026. If you encounter problems with the survey, want to leave us a message or start a conversation with us, please drop us an email at qua...@sed.ethz.ch.
Since the survey is anonymous, no personal data will be collected. Submitted replies will be stored on servers of ETH Zurich located in Switzerland. They will be deleted after the results of this survey were compiled.
Best regards, the QuakeML team at SED,
Danijel, Fabian, John, Philipp, Stefan
