Dear FDSN members,

At this summer's FDSN meeting in Montreal, EIDA and IRIS presented a prototype data center registry to be hosted on www.fdsn.org <http://www.fdsn.org/>. The registry contains a listing of data centers, which services are offered, and optionally which data sets are available from each. Each data center registers and controls their own entry. We anticipate this information being used by data collection software, federating and brokering systems, etc. to enhance the discovery of centers, their services and the data they offer.

At the meeting the proposal was well received with a few comments and suggestions, which have now been addressed, including the ability to include citation information for a data center.

The registry is now available for all to use:

http://fdsn.org/datacenters/ <http://fdsn.org/datacenters/>

We strongly encourage data centers to register their data center.

If you are a network operator that forwards your data to a data center for dissemination, please encourage that data center to register.

regards,
