After nearly 60 years of anticipation, the Far South Side is finally getting the transit connection it deserves! Join us Friday, April 24 as we break ground on a 5 ½ mile extension of the Red Line that will bring four new, fully ADA-accessible rail stations – at 103rd Street, 111th Street, Michigan Avenue and 130th Street—along with a new rail yard and maintenance facility near East 120th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue. This expansion will transform how CTA riders on the Far South Side connect to the rest of the Chicago region for generations to come. We hope you will join us for this long-awaited milestone. Here’s what you need to know: Friday, April 24, 2026, 12:30 p.m. Please arrive by 12:20 p.m. Limited seating will be available. 11500 S.
