Soil boring work beginning at Fernwood Parkway & Wendell Smith Park starting April 30th.

Weekdays
Dates: Wednesday, April 30 to Friday, May 30, 2025

Dates are subject to change due to weather & construction schedule adjustments
Location:

  • Fernwood Parkway along S. Eggleston Avenue from W. 99th Street to W. 103rd Street
  • Wendell Smith Park

Work Hours: 7am to 5pm, daily
Work Activity:
Soil Borings & Survey
Local Impact:

  • Soil boring work will be performed in the Parkway.
  • Work will take place at Wendell Smith Park from April 30 to May 7.
  • There will be noise while the work is being performed.
    Noise may include:
    • General construction noise
    • Equipment noise from soil boring trucks and running air compressors
    • Use of pneumatic tools
    • Beeping from back-up alarms on construction equipment and vehicles
  • There will be dust while the work activity is being performed, and the contractor will implement the necessary procedures to mitigate the dust.
  • Additional Construction Activity Notices will be provided as work progresses.
We are performing work in preparation for extending the Red Line by 5.5 miles from the 95th Street Terminal to 130th Street. The Red Line Extension also includes building four new Red Line stations at 103rd, 111th, Michigan (near 116th) and 130th streets. To build the project, work will be performed that may affect your community. While progress sometimes comes with inconveniences, we will do our best to keep them to a minimum.
