The Far South CAC was formed to serve as a vehicle of empowerment for families and community members who want to impact change and improve schools on the Far South Side of Chicago. The Far South CAC also provides community support for the development of quality Chicago Public Schools through engaging, empowering, and connecting stakeholders. All Chicago Public Schools CAC's are designed to be a forum for families and community members to debate and discuss issues regarding the status of the schools in the community and to proactively engage community stakeholders in developing strategies to improve local schools. CACs will connect schools, students and families to various community resources and will develop a strategic plan that describes the community’s recommendations to improve schools and ensure that student’s graduate prepared for success in college, career, and life. The strategy for creating 21st Century Learning Institutions is to Engage, Educate and Empower parents and caregivers to be ambassadors for their children and partners with their children’s teachers.
