The Far South CAC was formed to serve as a vehicle of empowerment for families and community members who want to impact change and improve schools on the Far South Side of Chicago. The Far South CAC also provides community support for the development of quality Chicago Public Schools through engaging, empowering, and connecting stakeholders.

All Chicago Public Schools CAC's are designed to be a forum for families and community members to debate and discuss issues regarding the status of the schools in the community and to proactively engage community stakeholders in developing strategies to improve local schools.

CACs will connect schools, students and families to various community resources and will develop a strategic plan that describes the community’s recommendations to improve schools and ensure that student’s graduate prepared for success in college, career, and life.

The strategy for creating 21st Century Learning Institutions is to Engage, Educate and Empower parents and caregivers to be ambassadors for their children and partners with their children’s teachers.

Key Highlights for May Meeting

Please Join us for our May 2025 Meeting as we will be having discussions about two important topics:

  • The Director of School Quality Measurement & Research will be providing us with an update on the work being done to rollout The Continuous Improvement and Data Transparency (CIDT) process. This is how Chicago Public Schools (CPS) makes sure schools are always getting better and that families, students, and the public can see how that’s happening.

  • The Advisory Group responsible for leading the Chicago Public Schools superintendent search will lead a listening session with us to identify the priorities important to us as it pertains to the next School Superintendent.
