| In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, our Parent Mentors participated in a powerful and restorative experience led by Valerie Talton, author of I Plant the Seed and Executive Director of Accelerate Career Through Education, LLC. The interactive workshop invited parents to reflect on their personal growth while gaining tools to support their children’s paths to college and career readiness. |

| Taking care of yourself is necessary. Self-care rejuvenates you and helps you take better care for family Self care includes but is not limited to Get adequate sleep Eat nutritious satisfying meals Move your body regularly Do hobbies and activities that fill your cup |

| Taking breaks when needed is essential. Steping away from a moment to relax or engage in a self care activity, like deep breathing, can help you approach parenting challenges with a fresh perspective. |
