| Parent Mentors Grow Through “I Plant the Seed” Workshop |
| In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, our Parent Mentors recently participated in a powerful and restorative experience led by Valerie Talton, author of I Plant the Seed and Executive Director of Accelerate Career Through Education, LLC. The interactive workshop invited parents to reflect on their personal growth while gaining tools to support their children’s paths to college and career readiness. |

|
| The session began with an engaging conversation led by Mrs. Talton on what it means to be prepared—not just academically, but emotionally and mentally—for the transitions that come with college and the workforce. Parent Mentors then took the time to write meaningful goals starting with an “I” statement, grounding their intentions in personal ownership and purpose. Each participant “planted their seed” by placing their written goal into a small pot and covering it with soil and pepper seeds, symbolizing the growth they are nurturing in themselves and their children. |

| To close the session, parents participated in a calming sound bath facilitated by Valerie and her assistant, Vanessa. This moment of guided reflection allowed parents to release stress and recenter—reminding us all of the importance of tending to our own mental well-being while supporting our families. |

| Coach J's CornerWhile we all tend to ask for grace, some of us deserve mercy. What is the difference you ask? Grace is getting what we need even if we don’t deserve it. Mercy is not getting what we do deserve. I challenge you to give grace to others, and in return mercy be given to you. How do you give grace to others? Respond to this newsletter and we will publish it in next week’s issue.
