As you are surely aware, we will be getting a significant snow storm over
the next couple of days. This is forecasted to be a long duration storm,
starting as early as tomorrow mid-morning and lasting through Monday
afternoon/evening. Watch your local weather to keep updated. I just threw this
list together as a reminder for everyone. We have been through this many times
before, but its just a handy reminder. These is not a definitive lists, but are
useful guides. This is just a few key items, but everyone’s specific needs may
be different.
If you need to use a portable generator, make
sure you operate it safely, follow manufacturer’s instructions and in operate it
in a WELL VENTILATED AREA. Do not operate indoors or in an enclosed garage!
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas and it can
kill!
Just a few checklist items below, as well as an attached
preparedness list to keep handy for now and in the future.
> Be sure you test all alternative power sources ahead
of time (Solar, Batteries, Generators, Etc.)
> Test Flashlights
> Portable Radio for local news/weather
> Extra Batteries for radios and flashlights
> Charge cell phones, tablets and computers
> Charge up portable ham radios, any extra batteries
and standby radio batteries
> Food and medicines as needed
> Extra blankets, if needed
> Keep the house warm, in anticipation of possible
power outages and you heating system may not work.
