Hi -

I started to learn Pickleball right before the pandemic hit, and not long after, developed chronic back pain which is now pretty much under control.

I would like to start playing again, but I have to consider myself a rank beginner due to so much time passing between when I started and now.

I would like to find one or more people who are at or near my level to begin playing with on a regular basis.

One of the lovely things you will find is that several of us more advanced players are happy to fold self-identified newbies into games with us. We even (often) change our style of play to make it work.

The next event is Memorial Day at the YMCA. There still is some availability for beginners. There is also a new member social on June 9th. When is everyone available to play- I am a teacher during the school year ( and July 1st- August 8th for summer school M-F) I would be able to meet at the courts by 4:30. 

The second half of June and from 8/9-8/25 I have more flexibility in the summer.

I am near Westmoreland, but I work, so 5 or later is best. I have taken the beginner class, we played a bit, and then we had some life events. And my husband just had knee surgery so he is not cleared to play until the Fall. But I have regressed, and consider myself starting as a very new beginner as so much time has gone by.  Not sure about this coming week as we are headed out of town next weekend and there is much to do, but please keep me in the loop for next week and beyond.

There was a time when a court (or two) at Westmoreland was/were designated for BEGINNERS to meet and play. 

Have guidelines been posted online (and not on the fence at the courts)?

Looking at all these beginners chatting it up, maybe it's time to start those discussions back up, EV?

all you beginners, is there is a timeslot, a couple of hours long, on any given day or a string of days, where it would make sense to designate a couple courts for Beginners play At Westmoreland? 

One good thing to remember is that Many beginners become adept rather quickly And can be included in games with intermediate players, and there are lots of intermediate(And advanced) players who know how to go easy on the newbies. And are happy to do it.

Don't let the competitive types chase you off.

Sabrina, a friend and I typically play after 4pm. Usually more like 6:30pm, at Westmoreland. I'm also a teacher. Tue might work. I'm joining the league for Thursdays in June. 

We're maybe advanced beginners. Not sure who originated the post, but if you could include me on the email list, that'd be great. I'd like to meet in person so I know who to join or is open to it. 

I just attended the social at the Y today, but those attending didn't really have lots of time to chat or exchange contact info  with each other. But I learned a lot.

[Emerald Valley Pickleball Club (EVPC)]

We would love to also invite you to join our Beginner League starting June 6th. You do need to be a member of EVPC. We have planned it to be a low barrier of entry for beginners to give as much support as possible to make you feel comfortable. The league will be 16 players and each court will have a volunteer to help you manage the game (score, rules, etc.) so you can learn at your own pace. The format will be "Champion of the Court" where after each game, the team that won moves up a court and the team that lost moves down a court. You and your partner will then split and you will play with someone new each game. The volunteers will help guide you in this process as well. At the end of the night, we will record what court you are at and then the following week you will start there and keep playing. At the end of the four weeks whoever wins the "Champion Court" will be the winner of the league.
