Weekend morning play

I am fresh out of a 4 week beginner class and looking to pull together others for weekend morning play.  I'd consider myself a beginner to intermediate skill level.  Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for responding.  Things are just getting started.  I have no plan yet on a time or location but I’ve received some decent interest from others to put something together.  Let me see where this takes me in the coming days and see if there’s a chance of having enough for this weekend and agreeing on a location. If not this weekend, I’m feeling hopeful something can happen soon after.  I’ll keep you in the loop and don’t hesitate to reach out if you haven’t heard from me.

I am more of a beginner. I did one league and I’ve had a few practice sessions on top of that.

Hi Julie. Thanks for responding. I’m getting some decent interest in my email tonight. I think I have a decent chance to get at least a 4some if not more interested in playing.  No times or locations set.  I’m still a working stiff and would like to do it on the weekends!  Let me see where this takes me in the coming days and see when we might all have a mutual time to play.  So far I’m hopeful I can put something together.  I will keep you in the loop and don’t hesitate to reach out if you haven’t heard from me.

Hi Tamara.  Thanks for your interest.  I’m surprised and yet not on the level of replies in less than 24 hours.  I’m going to let this run thru today and try to get organized on Thursday with the group we have.  Even now there looks to be enough to get subgroups together. I could possibly play depending on the time.  Meadowpark is very busy in the morning.  Westmoreland has more courts.   Stiker Park has 2 courts that are not very busy during the week.

As I've said before, I'm encouraged with the level of interest this has generated.  With the numbers I am seeing here, we could easily have subgroups playing at different times at different locations.  I haven't checked out the playtime scheduler but Kim makes a good point to use it if it helps organize everyone's availability and interest in a particular court.  I am willing to play on any of the local courts in the area.  Westmoreland seems to be the holy land of courts but ultimately I'd like to eventually check them all out.  I live on the north end of Eugene so I can see myself eventually gravitating towards Striker as this evolves.  For now my playtimes are limited to the weekends.  I'd prefer mornings just to have the rest of the day free for other things but I can be flexible.  I'm guessing the problem with that is everyone else has the same idea!  But we can figure that out as we go.  Right now I'm thinking of an 8am start time Saturday and/or Sunday.  Location TBD and can be up for discussion.  Anyone interested in a foursome either of those two days?

I would be interested in a start time of 9 o’clock on Saturday-It’s the one day that I get to sleep in a bit as a teacher, and that allows for travel time. 

I’m always open to exploring different parts of Eugene, but I happen to live in the south side of town. 

I would not be able to do an 8 o’clock on Sunday because I do go to church at 9:30.

Ok let’s get this ball rolling, I will be at Westmoreland at 9am on Saturday morning. I’ll be the guy with the Green Day shirt and Dodgers hat.  If Sabrina or anyone else is up for playing, let’s find a court and figure it out.  If there ends up being more than 4 we will rotate in.  Anything less than 4 and we’ll look to find others who need players.  I’ll hang out for a short while and make the best of the situation. I hope to see as many of you that can make it.  Sabrina if you’re still interested, we can make more formal plans to find each other and that goes for the rest!  It’s supposed to be a nice Saturday morning which is getting rare this time of year.

Well for anyone that is still hanging on to this wild ride, plans have changed to Meadow Park in Springfield at 9am tomorrow.  Less crowded and not as cut throat.  I'm doubting I will get many takers at this point which is understandable.  I still see value in this group of interested players and hope we can continue to use this thread to organize games on more mutual playing times.

Keep in mind that there is a prearranged meeting at Meadow and at Westmoreland every day at 8:30 AM.  Meadow has three levels to play in.  Four courts are dedicated to more of the beginners.  I understand that there is an agreement with both neighborhoods not to start before 8:30 to keep the noise under control.

I checked out Meadow Park this morning and had a positive experience.  Courts were divided into levels of play.  I split my time between beginner and intermediate. All were open and inclusive.  Got in about 6 games.  I’d be interested in checking out Westmoreland and would be interested in playing Kris.  Weather permitting let’s find a mutual time to pick up some games.

The continued interest in pick up games is great!  I think we’re fooling ourselves if we think we can come as a group to Westmoreland or Meadow any morning before 1pm and expect to command our own court.  I think if we are serious about playing together we should consider a later time in the day or a less popular court like Striker.  If we have a dry weekend next week I’d be up for a scenario like that.  I’m sure it would be a welcome lower pressure situation for everyone.  As for becoming a member, I’m sure that’s in my near future to increase my options and skills.  I really like the idea of these low key “play dates” if we can pull them off!

Been getting some direct responses regarding my presumption of not being able to get a court as a group in the morning hours of the weekend at any of the major locations that basically confirms it.  I’d be up for the few offers people have made about any takers for the weekend but I’m not seeing how it will work.  I think plans need to include hours past noon and/or locations outside the hot 3.  What about courts at like Sheldon?  If you register with the rec dept can you get a QR code that gets you access to a net?

I would love to join this Pickleball practice. Any court is fine for me. My preference would be later on in the day actually but I’m willing to get there as early as 9 o’clock on a Saturday morning.

This is the one Saturday that I will not be able to make the afternoon because my daughter is visiting me and I will be watching her cross country meet in Philomath.  

Most Saturdays in the late morning or early afternoon I am available.

There is a whole lotta interest here but struggling to get off the ground.  I don’t see a scenario where a group of us meet in any morning hour and expect to find a free court.  I only see potential afternoon opportunities which can be fine if we can find some mutual interest. Kind of a big Duck game this weekend so I’m out this Saturday. What about indoor options?  Not only for court availability but places to go when the weather is bad?  Are Bob Keifer and the Y our options?  Anyone been to either of these and had a decent experience?
