Seriously, 10 to 2 is a hot time of day to play most summer days.On Tue, Jul 8, 2025 at 6:42 AM 'Maureen McCauley' via Westmoreland Pickleball <westmo...@evpbc.com> wrote:There are people who play Pickleball that work. Pickleball (like music) has helped keep me alive for several years. We currently run for 11 hours, so yes... Four hours (9-1) of pickleball play would certainly help...Putting up sound baffling around the NE corner of the courts (with gaps between panels to allow for passage of AIR - thus necessitating less structural reinforcement) would also help.Providing hearing aids or some sort of electric prods for people waiting to play, so that they could attend to the shouts of "FOUR!!!" on the first or second try could also help... (This is a joke, but SOME of us can get pretty LOUD out there...)Has anyone walked the neighborhood since we heard about this lawsuit? Talking with the neighbors couldn't hurt.LOn Mon, Jul 7, 2025 at 2:57 PM Cal <mathr...@gmail.com> wrote:A good compromise would be to limit play from 9am to 1pmI live on W 11th and would jump at the chance of having only four hours of noise =Pas someone who is very distractible when it comes to audio, I sympathize with the neighbors.I was sort of amazed that there were so few complaints (that we Pickleballersheard) for the last five years.i'm guessing this notion is now too little too late.Might be that the only solution is cutting down the hours to 9 AM till noon. This video changed my mind on the question. On Mon, Jul 7, 2025 at 14:31 larryjeans <larry...@comcast.net> wrote:We had the same problem at our RV resort in Palm SPrings. Same type of lawsuit. We have over 1200 owned lots, with 13 PB courts. Just finishing the noise buffer screens. Had to replace all of the fencing and put in stonger footings for the fence posts. Cost over $250,000. Just a comparable problem.

I believe the city looked at acoustic baffling and concluded the fence wasn't strong enough to handle the wind load. Seems to me (as a engineer myself) that vertical I-beams could be fastened to each fence pole for reinforcement to prevent any bending of the poles.. The details and probable modifications at the footings would require further analysis however. That part could get expensive.Gary

Wouldn't it behoove us to work with the City to install SOUND (and wind) baffles?Good acoustic baffling on the east and north sides - the sides we park (just past the gate on the north side) would make a huge difference...I don't really think you can fight the wind. Our group could raise the loot.Lea

I was walking home from WM as I live near by on Sunday and encountered a fellow watering his lawn across the street from the courts. I asked him what he thought of the noise. He said he is fine with it. He mentioned that about a week ago someone came to his door and wanted him to sign a petition stopping play due to the noise. He refused to sign it. He said the petitioner was surprised. He asked how many signatures he had and the answer was ten. The fellow I was talking to said that another petitioner came by a few days later and it was for support for keeping play a WM which he signed. I don’t know who was the petitioner in that case. I live on Tyler and nobody has come by with a petition either way. I can hear the courts from my house. Generally, I can hear play from 9 to 11 and then it peters out to nothing by 12. It starts up again around 4 and continues until about 7 most days.
