1. Know every child by name.
2. Enquire, if why a particular child hasn't come in a caring tone. Others will know that you care
3. Children like Kind Teachers and even more, those who show empathy for them in difficult situations
4. Create that emotional connect
5. Keep a 10 min slot up your sleeve, that a child will long for, for every class.

What do you have to share ?

Yes more than teaching academic syllabus, what is needed is feeling of belongingness.
Through which we can build confidence in the children
which is more required thing.
Need is to change mindset of Rural children...from ''I can't'' to ''Yes, I can''

thank you!!!
anyone more interested may spend some time on the link

Absolutely, kindness will teach kindness. Was also wondering if we could share with them ideas on ecological damage and its implications for humanity? Could we show them space videos, videos of the deep Universe shot by Hubble? Could we talk about kindness to animals and respect to women. I think in the climate of today, we need to show our sons that the women are to be treated with respect. Just wondering of these could be incorporated.

Thank you

Role of teacher is second important after family members.
And it is through value education..we can attempt to see the change in the society instead of Law/punishment kind of post incident treatments...
Values imbibed at school level could shape the future of individuals and society...

''Let's try to be the change agents''
Thank you...

Thank you for sharing Sarvoday Foundation.

Will be helpful, if you could also add some subject line regarding the details of the attachments, will help the Forum members to consume.

I believe you wanted to share Contents for Spoken English teaching here, which is primarily targetted Gujarathi speaking people.

Venkat

Someone told me it is a good deed you are doing by volunteering to teach. I disagreed with them. It is a privelege I am given to be a teacher. These kids are teaching me to look at life differently. They are bringing in the best of teaching abilities in me. As Venkat said, knowing every child by name is the easiest way to connect. For every person, the sweetest word in any language is one's own name.

start with what you taught last time. for around 5 minutes
tell them what you are going to teach
ask them how much they know about it
give them a little homework something connected to their immediate environment so that they can easily understand.
tell them you wil be checking on the homework .
and do check on the homework.
a little humour will always help you connect to even the most shy child.
lead them from the known to the unknown

Kids surprise us with how much they know. and more often than not , it is them who teach us, that there are numerous ways to reach out to others if one is willing.

Hi Deepti,

It is recommended and probably required to do from Skype on laptop/PC, because, Skype on Mobile doesn't support Screen sharing and also usage of other resources like Whiteboard, Videos, PPTs etc will not be feasible throgh Skype on Mobile.

Regards,
Venkat
