Library of Congress June 2023 BIBFRAME Update Forum
Monday, June 26, 2023: 1:00 PM ET - 2:00 PM ET (10:00 AM PT – 11:00 AM PT)
Library of Congress BIBFRAME Update (click to access program)
Questions often reach us asking for examples of how an institution may start using BIBFRAME today in a hybrid environment of MARC and BIBFRAME – so they can reap advantages from the BIBFRAME side of their environment. Our speakers today will describe some examples of functioning hybrid installations, MARC and BIBFRAME, and express some of the advantages and difficulties they offer. The session will lead off with a description of the Library.Link Network’s evolution into BiblioGraph with Zephiera and EBSCO’s work implementing BIBFRAME over 9 years. Then, Swedish colleagues will tell about their extensive activities that illustrate what one can do with linked data even in a mixed MARC and BIBFRAME situation. From Italy we will hear about consortia whose initiatives show, from different perspectives, the benefits of adopting the BIBFRAME-based entity environment. Wrapping up will be an update on the Library of Congress progress in introducing BIBFRAME and the Marva editor into the Folio system which will be the Library’s new ILS.
Join us on Monday afternoon (or morning depending on your time zone)!
