I put together this page for general consuption, https://github.com/eucalyptus/eucaconsole/wiki/memcached

One hitch is that the eucaconsole package doesn't have the memcached config file in it. But, it will as of the nightlies (tonight) since I updated the rpmspec.

Hey David,

Thanks for the info.  So if you set up one Management Console, should memcached be co-located with it or on a separate host?  Is there a best practice for setting up multiple memcached servers to be used with multiple Management Consoles (does this change if the Management Consoles are placed behind an ELB)?

Thanks for your help ahead of time with this.

Cheers,

Hey Harold,
If there is just one console server, then I would certainly co-locate memcached on that for optimum speed. Currently, we don't support the console behind ELB (and presumably other scale-out configurations). There's a ticket open for that. In the event that those issues are fixed, you could setup memcached on a server reachable by all instances of the console. Since memcached isn't critical to the functioning of the console, a single memcached instance would likely suffice and if it went down, replacing soon would be good enough.
