OVERVIEW

A security vulnerability has been identified in the configuration of
the Apache Santuario (XML Security for Java) library used by
Eucalyptus 3.1.0 and earlier. An update is now available that resolves
this issue. We advise immediately updating all affected Eucalyptus
installations following the instructions below.

DESCRIPTION
- -------------

Eucalyptus Java-based components use the Apache Santuario (XML Security)
library for processing digital signatures in SOAP requests. The
provided library configuration allowed for the use of XML Signature
transforms (such as XSL-T and XPath) that could be abused by a
malicious user and lead to Denial of Service attacks.

SOLUTION
- -------------

Eucalyptus versions 3.1.1 resolves this issue. Please see
http://www.eucalyptus.com/download/eucalyptus for instructions on
downloading and upgrading to the latest Eucalyptus software.
