The town is officially no longer on vacation.  The News and Trail-Gazette have published a press release from outside sources.  The Voice is waxing on and on about snowmen.  Where is the PIO press release?  Where is the VEP reassurance and the RMNP (I get it, not their jurisdiction, but for historical precedent, and because multitudes more people hike in Rocky than on Crosier) advisements that, for a myriad of reasons, folks should avoid hiking alone in the winter.  

So sad, but the town's role is not silence, but an immediate need to (1) express genuine sympathy while (2) providing factual information and context.  

We should avoid at all costs a return to the days of bounties and celebrations in print (with gruesome photos) of retribution and total eradication of apex predators.  IMO.
