In 2025, CIRSA launched a new service utilizing advanced hail-warning technology, developed by KISTERS. This service is available to CIRSA members at no cost, as CIRSA is covering all associated expenses. The technology offers a comprehensive early-warning hail monitoring system designed to help CIRSA members better protect their assets, particularly their fleet vehicles.
We will continue to offer this notification service to all members in areas prone to hail until we reach the maximum limit of our contract. If your entity signed up for this service in 2025, you will automatically be enrolled for the upcoming hail season. If your entity did not sign up last year, we encourage your participation this year. For more information on signing up, click HERE. |

Given the existing international and domestic tensions, CIRSA has reached out to the U.S. Department of Justice for information to consider when looking into either online and/or in-person domestic terrorism prevention training. Such training, if successfully coordinated, would benefit all CIRSA member staff and especially those in the field daily, such as public works, parks & recreation, streets, water distribution, and wastewater collection, along with all fire, EMS, and any law enforcement personnel who might be the first to witness suspicious behavior. CIRSA is also assembling additional resources on terrorism prevention training, which will be posted to the CIRSA website. |

In addition to CIRSA’s annual gold-level sponsorship and support of the Colorado Chapter of PRIMA (Public Risk Management Association), CIRSA is providing FOUR Scholarships for new risk management professionals at member organizations to attend the annual conference in Steamboat Springs August 9-11, 2026. The scholarships are available for risk management professionals who are NEW to Colorado PRIMA and/or new in their role as risk/safety staff. The scholarship will cover conference registration and two nights of lodging, and mileage reimbursement will be covered through our travel reimbursement program. We are excited to announce that our June 23rd Member Appreciation lunch in Westminster will celebrate our members’ Elected and Appointed officials, many of whom will be attending the annual Colorado Municipal League conference, which is just a short 5-minute drive away.
We invite all elected and appointed officials, along with other municipal staff, to join us for a complimentary lunch and networking event at the Church Ranch Center. The program will feature an interactive presentation by Tami Tanoue, CIRSA Executive Director, and Sam Light, CIRSA Deputy Executive Director/General Counsel entitled “Whose Mess is this Anyway: A Few Scenarios.” Using real-world examples, Tami and Sam will share valuable tips and tools to address tough situations faced by elected officials and reduce liability risks.
Following the lunch, Sam Light and Nick Cotton-Baez, CIRSA Associate General Counsel will present on the “Legal & Risk Considerations in Your Use of Artificial Intelligence” from 2:00 - 3:00. Guests are welcome to attend the lunch, the seminar, or both. |
